I am a 5th year PhD Candidate at the University of Arizona with interests in renewable energy, electricity markets, climate change economics, and industrial organization. In my job market paper, I quantify how transmission congestion distorts energy investment by deterring renewable projects in high-value areas and sustaining inefficient fossil fuel development near cities. Using an entry and location choice model, I show that relieving key congestion points would substantially increase renewable output, improve spatial efficiency, and reduce carbon and local pollution damages—highlighting major gaps in current U.S. transmission planning practices.
